Charge of the Tech Brigade.

I wrote this several years ago for my annual performance review after deploying our SharePoint 2010 intranet. My apologies, and thanks, to Tennyson.

Half a league, half a league,
	half a league onward
All in the valley of Microsoft
	Rode the two developers.
“Forward the Tech Brigade!”
“Charge for the servers!” he said
Into the servers of Microsoft
	Rode the two developers.

“Forward, the Tech Brigade!”
Was there a manager dismay’d?
Not tho’ the developer knew
	Someone at Microsoft had blunder’d:
Theirs was not to make reply.
Theirs was not to reason why.
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the servers of Microsoft
	Rode the two developers.

Bugs to the right of them,
Bugs to the left of them,
Bugs in front of them
	crashed and plundered;
Stormed at with dot-net and XML,
Boldly they coded and well,
Into the jaws of Microsoft,
into the mouth of Hell,
	Rode the two developers.

Flash’d all their VMs bare,
Flash’d as they installed there,
Downloading the ISOs,
Charging a server,
	while all the world wonder’d.
Plunged in the network center,
right thro’ the firewall they entered;
Redmond and India
Reel’d from the bug tickets,
	Shatter’d and sunder’d.
Then they rode back,
	The weary two developers.

Bugs to the right of them,
Bugs to the left of them,
Bugs in front of them
	Crashed and plundered;
Stormed at with dot-net and XML,
While fathers and marriages fell,
They that fought so well,
Came thro’ the jaws of Microsoft,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
	left of the two developers.

When can the pilot fade?
O the wild demos they made!
	All the world wondered.
Honor the demos they made.
Honor the Tech Brigade,
	Noble two developers.
